Developer Staffing Survey: Needs Outstrip Supply
, September 04, 2012 An InformationWeek survey shows IT managers expect that developers with the needed skills will be hard to find for a while yet.
Needed skills will be hard to find.
Earlier this year, we published the results of a Dr. Dobb's-InformationWeek developer salary survey. It showed that developer salaries were rising gently. The just-completed InformationWeek survey of IT managers, however, shows considerable pressure on IT departments to locate developers with the skill sets they need. The survey covered skills in all IT sectors and technology areas, including standard business programming, mobile, the cloud, web applications, etc.
This first slide indicates that only one quarter of managers expect to find the necessary development skills with ease.
