Citing an industry need for "a way to evaluate the skill and knowledge of those entering the software field," the IEEE Computer Society has developed a Certified Software Development Associate (CDSA) program for testing and evaluating software engineering knowledge in entry-level programmers.
Designed to complement the Society's existing Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) program, the test is meant to primarily gauge proficiency in software engineering principles, as opposed to raw coding skills.
The exam is based on the IEEE's Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge. More information can be found at http://www.computer.org/csda.
