JavaOne/CommunityOne Day .5
Although tomorrow is the official start of JavaOne, the festivities kick off today at CommunityOne, also held in Moscone in San Francisco. To start things off, Sun announced the latest version of OpenSolaris with three big new features: Project Crossbow (network virtualization), Project COMSTAR (heterogeneous storage support), and a plethora of server virtualization options. Initial Impressions
Being that I have exhibitor access, I can tell you that the show floor is packed with cool Java-related demos from a lot of companies. There's no let-up in Java-related activity despite the state of the economy. I did notice that much of the JavaOne signage outside of Moscone seems to be designed to have the Java trademark stand on its own, without any hint of the Sun logo except in a far corner of one of the windows. Perhaps this is intentional given the pending acquisition, or perhaps I'm just looking for things like that? Stay tuned for updates and news as they occur.
