After much worry and study from academia, the government, NGOs, and yours truly, the problem of gender skew in computer science may finally be ready to turn a corner, with help from an unexpected source.


After much worry and study from academia, the government, NGOs, and yours truly, the problem of gender skew in computer science may finally be ready to turn a corner, with help from an unexpected source.

The New York Times Bits Blog reports today  that Mattel is unveiling  Computer Engineer Barbie, the iconic female role model, now equipped with a hot pink laptop and matching accessories. 

 We will be eagerly waiting to see what Ken thinks.
