CollabNet has announced an update to its CollabNet Desktop Eclipse Edition, a set of plug-ins for the Eclipse IDE that provides direct access to application lifecycle management tools for distributed teams. These plug-ins are built on an extensible, lightweight framework that provide developers a suite of tools that work seamlessly together within Eclipse and via the traditional web-based interface.

With CollabNet Desktop Eclipse Edition 1.1, Eclipse developers can track and manage the lifecycle of all project assets, Subversion-related activities, and tasks managed in the CollabNet tracker repositories. Furthermore, it integrates with CollabNet CUBiT, a multi-site development environment that integrates build and test tools, to give developers access to build and test servers and environments for their projects..

CollabNet claims that the CollabNet Desktop Eclipse Edition is the first developer desktop plug-in that enables distributed software development in a native Eclipse environment. This means CollabNet customers can partner with Eclipse developers and have them start right way. Information easily flows between source code management, issue tracking and other tools automatically, streamlining processes, increasing reliability and allowing developers to work in their native tool environment.

CollabNet Desktop Eclipse Edition 1.1 includes the following updates:

Access to CUBiT functionality directly from Eclipse, including the ability to provision and re-create near real-time development, build and test environments based on system configurations managed and versioned in a central library,
Direct links to valuable resources including technical tips, discussion forums, and blogs available on openCollabNet.
Ability to access and search directly from Eclipse any of the publicly-accessible community sites that run CollabNet Community Edition such as tigris.org, java.net, and dev2dev.bea.com
