A la Mobile, a small developer based in San Ramon, CA, has assembled what it calls a "first Android prototype": a suite of apps based on Google's Android mobile platform, and running on a Qtek 9090 handset from HTC. HTC is one of the companies in Google's Open Handset Coalition, a group which plans open Linux-based phones.

The prototype, according to a la Mobile, includes a browser, phone dialer, audio player, maps, camera, games, calendar, contacts manager, calculator, tasks manager and notes.

According to a la Mobile's press release, their intention was not only to create a suite of apps, but to present a full "mobile Linux system stack, including device drivers, Linux kernel, system utilities, mobile middleware (such as security, device management, provisioning, etc.), an application framework (such as Android) that supports JAVA services, browser, and miscellaneous applications for the end device."
