Qt Software has released a Beta of Qt Creator -- a lightweight, cross-platform IDE for use with the Qt application framework that is open and extendable.

With this release, the complete Qt Creator source code is available under the GPL via a publicly accessible repository, giving beta testers full visibility into Qt Creator as it's developed. Preview packages are also available to commercial and open source users for download, testing and feedback.

The beta incorporates feedback from the many downloaders of the first Technology Preview release, and provides an early look at a set of features tailored to the needs of developers using Qt and C++ to create cross-platform applications. The final release of Qt Creator is currently scheduled for early 2009.
