Open source software application development company EclipseSource has released Tabris 1.0 for mobile cross-platform development. This Java toolkit for cross-platform development of native mobile apps is aligned towards developers looking to create native iOS and Android Apps.
Using this framework, applications will be able to be extended to additional platforms, even legacy device inventories.
The EclipseSource team has used platform-specific concepts and widgets, so that apps created with Tabris are "particularly user-friendly" once deployed. Tabris is said to be ideal for developing mobile applications with an emphasis on data security; e.g., for health care, e-government, insurance, and finance.
NOTE: Tabris is a commercial extension of the Eclipse RAP Open Source project, which was first introduced in January 2012.
"Tabris's server components can be seamlessly integrated into JEE and OSGi environments and are open source. It's close integration in the Eclipse ecosystem permits the easy usage of other mature components and offers a great deal of sustainability," says the Tabris team.
