Intel buys WindRiver
Breaking news: As part their embedded strategy, Intel just announced their acquisition of WindRiver, maker of embedded operating systems and software. As the PC market stagnates in terms of sales, the embedded market (mobile devices, netbooks, and so on) continues to grow. With Intel's Atom processor in that space, this acquisition marks their continued expansion into the embedded market. For more information, check here:

In terms of Java, with JavaFX Script and JavaFX Mobile, Java developers are positioned well to take advantage of devices and computers of all sizes, running many different OSs as well.
