Perforce Software has dialed deeper into the mobile device revolution with the release of its new P4Scout application for Android. The new product aims to give administrators the option to use Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools that support real-time mobile access to individual server status information.
By allowing project managers use Android-based devices to view the work most recently submitted to the Perforce server, the company suggests it has widened the scope for the total codebase to be monitored and managed throughout the development lifecycle.
Already previously available on the iPhone, the company says that its new application is designed to run on an Android-based tablet or smartphone and is available for free from the Android Market.
"We developed P4Scout to address the need for organizations to access Perforce in real-time through a variety of devices," explained Dave Robertson. "P4Scout was built using our pure Java API and demonstrates the portability of the many Perforce APIs."
