Samsung has announced that the Tizen Software Development Kit (SDK) for its wearable devices is now available for download from the Tizen Developer website.
Although this is interesting news, it is too early to say whether or not developers will follow Samsung's platform offering, as Tizen is such a new platform in the market today.
The Tizen SDK for Wearables means that a variety of applications for the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are expected to be developed by the active Tizen app developer community.
As a company, Samsung says it "continues to focus" on shaping the future of the wearable technology as well as expanding more possibilities for app developers, partners, and consumers.
Currently boasting more than 100 device partnerships, the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo aims to provide developers with a platform to develop apps for wearable experiences for fitness, shopping, social media, music, news, and sleep management.
The Tizen SDK is a set of tools for developing Tizen web applications. It consists of Web IDE, Emulator, toolchain, sample code, and documentation.
Tizen SDK runs on Windows, as well as Ubuntu. Tizen web applications may be developed without relying on an official Tizen IDE, as long as the application complies with Tizen packaging rules.
