Snowbound Announces RasterMaster for Java Imaging SDK v3.0

Snowbound Software has released RasterMaster for Java Imaging SDK v3.0, which offers improvements in speed, capability, and function. According to Snowbound, version 3 is up to 10 times faster than version 2. Other additions to v3.0 are PCL output, JPEG saving, high-resolution printing, large image support for engineering drawings, and EPS output. RasterMaster for Java Imaging SDK v3.0 supports many image formats including TIF, JPEG, GIF, BMP, MO:DCA IOCA, MO:DCA PTOCA, DICOM, JEDMICS, and CMYK.

Visualize Introduces VantagePoint 4.0

Visualize Inc. has introduced VantagePoint 4.0, a Java class library designed to allow developers to embed charts and graphs into Java applications. VantagePoint 4.0 provides the ability to edit individual points of data and create regression and smoothing lines. Version 4.0 also allows developers to write axis types and create candle graphs.

VantagePoint 4.0 also works with Visualize JV-Pub, a server-side GIF creator, to enable the creation of graphs without an X server.

RPK Security Unveils RPK Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java and RPK SDMI Encryptonite Software Toolkit

RPK Security has announced two new versions of the Encryptonite Software Toolkit: Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java and the SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) Encryptonite Software Toolkit.

The RPK Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java allows developers to add encryption to stand-alone Java applications or web-browser Java applets. The SDMI Encryptonite Software Toolkit provides high-speed encryption for companies building SDMI-compliant devices and software for secure digital music delivery. Both products are based on the Encryptonite Engine, which combines the benefits of public-key encryption systems with the speed of symmetric systems in one algorithm.

Pricing starts at $695 per developer for either the Encryptonite Software Toolkit for Java or the SDMI Encryptonite Software Toolkit. Deployment license fees are based on the application.

I-Logix Launches Rhapsody in Java, Statemate INTRO, and Statemate MAGNUM 2.0

I-Logix Inc. has launched Rhapsody in Java, a visual programming environment based on UML, that generates production-quality Java code. Rhapsody in Java provides the ability to add connectivity to host and embedded software applications. It provides the same functionality as Rhapsody in C/C++, such as design-level debugging, model/code associativity, real-time framework, and code-fidelity.

I-Logix has also released Statemate INTRO and Statemate MAGNUM 2.0, new versions of their embedded-system design software. INTRO provides embedded-systems engineers with the ability to define the context (Interfaces) of the larger system being designed and to perform functional decomposition using an activity chart. MAGNUM v2.0 offers hybrid systems modeling and embedded prototyping with hardware.

Statemate INTRO costs $7,995 for a single-user license. Statemate MAGNUM 2.0 costs under $20,000 for a single-user license.

ParaSoft Releases CodeWizard for C++ v3.0 and Insure++ v5.1 for Unix

ParaSoft has released CodeWizard for C++ v3.0, a new version of their automatic coding standards enforcement tool. New in version 3.0 is RuleWizard, which allows users to create custom coding standards.

In addition, ParaSoft has released Insure++ v5.1 for Unix, a version of their automatic runtime error-detection tool for Unix. This version includes three different levels of error detection: lite, minimal, and source code instrumentation.

Pricing for CodeWizard for C++ v3.0 starts at $995 for Windows and $2,495 for Unix. Insure++ v5.1 for Unix pricing starts at $2,395 for Windows and $3,825 for Unix.

MicroEdge Announces Visual SlickEdit v5.0

MicroEdge has released Visual SlickEdit v5.0 for Windows 95/98/NT. A feature in version 5.0 includes context tagging, which performs expression type, scope, and inheritance analysis on source code as it is typed. Also, version 5.0 includes dynamically updated symbol references for Java, C/C++, COBOL, Slick-C, Ada, Delphi, and InstallScript. Project-management enhancements include the ability to open a Visual C++ workspace. In addition, the FTP Client toolbar and FTP Open tab allow recursive ftp directory operations.

Other features include Javadoc Editor, HTML and Javascript Beautifier, emulation for Visual C++, and Print Preview/Schemes.

Netaphor Unveils Cyberons

Netaphor Software, Inc. has released the Cyberons family of ActiveX controls and COM objects, which includes nine specialized, reusable components for adding networking and engineering features to applications developed in Visual Basic, C++, Visual J++, and other ActiveX development environments. For example, one of the Cyberons networking components can turn any Visual Basic application into an HTTP server. Another performs statistical computations in real time, including running averages and standard deviations. A third implements a cache to boost the performance of data-intensive applications.

TranDyne Debuts TranDyne HTML 4.0 SDK and KernTools

TranDyne has released TranDyne HTML 4.0 SDK, a kit designed to parse HTML 4.0 textual data. TranDyne HTML 4.0 SDK consists of TranDyne's HTML Foundation classes, HFC, two HTML grammar/parse engine variants, and pre-built libraries for major compilers.

TranDyne has also introduced KernTools, designed to streamline and eliminate necessary but cumbersome programming tasks, such as coding of generic containers, string handling, lists, stacks, queues, data compression/conversion, and CRC generation.

TranDyne HTML 4.0 SDK, which includes the HTML 4.0 parser, costs $369. HTML 4.0 SDK++, which includes the HTML 4.0 parser plus CSS1 and Javascript parsers, costs $549. KernTools costs $199. Full C/C++ source code is available.

Aonix Introduces Software through Pictures v7.2 for Windows NT

Aonix has released Software through Pictures (StP) v7.2 for Windows NT. StP v7.2 provides a structured, interactive, graphical modeling solution that supports UML 1.1 in a native NT environment. The StP v7.2 suite is open and customizable and is suitable for a single- or a multi-user environment.

AMC Releases CodeTEST Native

Applied Microsystems Corporation has announced CodeTEST Native, a product designed to analyze coverage, memory, and executable trace for embedded software applications running on a Sun SPARC/Solaris workstation. CodeTEST Native works only on the developer's host computer, allowing the developer to conduct test analysis as soon as coding begins. By loading a target agent onto the host computer, users can compile to the host instead of compiling for a processor, making the host computer a "virtual" target.

CodeTEST Native pricing starts at $2,500 for each CodeTEST Native module, including Trace, Memory, and Statement Coverage.

Dymo-CoStar Debuts DYMO Label SDK

Dymo-CoStar has released the DYMO Label SDK, which provides OLE, DLL, and DDE interfaces for embedding customized label functions, such as bar-code printing, label design, label formatting, and text formatting to fit specific label sizes.

The SDK supports platforms such as Visual Basic, C/C++, Access, FoxPro, PowerBuilder, and Delphi. Designed for use with the DYMO EL40, EL60, and Turbo LabelWriter printers, as well as older XL, XL+, and XL Turbo printers, the SDK supports Windows 95/98/NT.

the doss boss has released RATIOBAR DLL v1.20, for adding multiple scrollbars to 16- and 32-bit Windows programs. Bugs and inconsistencies of the standard 16-bit scrollbar implementation have been fixed.

Quadbase Systems Ships EspressChart v2.1

Quadbase Systems has shipped EspressChart v2.1, for creating and publishing graphic charts on the Web. Users can create a 2-D or 3-D chart, and a template of that chart can either be incorporated into applets, servlets, or applications using EspressChart's API or directly into an HTML page. Charts can be exported in BMP, GIF, JPEG, and VRML formats. Also, developers can build server-side applications that use the export features to generate charts for browsers without up-to-date Java support.

EspressChart v2.1 runs on Windows 95/98/NT, Solaris, HP-UX, and IBM. The NT version costs $999.

CS VERILOG Releases LOGISCOPE J TestChecker

CS VERILOG has released LOGISCOPE J TestChecker, which provides unrestricted support for C/C++ and Java. LOGISCOPE J TestChecker notifies developers if parts of the code remain untested. It identifies inefficient test cases and the tests that should be re-executed for regression testing if a function or a file is modified.

OCI Announces The ACE ORB

Object Computing Inc. (OCI) has announced The ACE ORB (TAO), an open-source implementation of the OMG CORBA specification. Designed to be compliant with CORBA v2.2, TAO includes some aspects of CORBA 2.3. Based on the ACE C++ framework, TAO provides a set of reusable C++ wrapper facades and components that encapsulate common communication software tasks.
