A European mobile advertising network has made a bid to attract developers to its platform by releasing its two SDKs for iOS and Android as open-source projects. The quirkily named madvertise hopes to encourage developers to help write and develop code so that banner ads can be more easily integrated into apps.
The two SDKS can now be downloaded from github.com. They come with what the company describes as a "suitable" library, which developers can include in their apps and which keeps space free for in-app advertising.
Commenting on this development, madvertise CIO and cofounder Thomas Hille said, "Opening up our code is intended to provide additional monetizing opportunities for both applications and mobile websites. We also hope it will help address developer's individual requirements and continue our mission of transparency in the market."
Although headquartered in Germany and with offices in London, madvertise's developer proposition is arguably of equal relevance to software application developers in the Americas and the rest of the world.
