The Eclipse platform gives software tools the ability to plug in and share common services. It allows dynamic data sharing between tools, source code control, and editing. Eclipse plug-ins share a common look and feel, and Eclipse lets users customize their development environments.
Many providers of embedded software development tools have already embraced Eclipse. Meanwhile, work is underway within the Eclipse Foundation to better serve embedded software and device developers. Late last year, the Eclipse Foundation announced three "milestone" releases within its Device Software Development Platform program.
The RTI Developer Platform offers tools for the development, debugging, analysis, and optimization of distributed applications. The platform's RTI Analyzer has been integrated into Eclipse. It provides a dynamic, object-based view of an active RTI system from a node and data-topic perspective. In addition to viewing a system in real time, users can save snapshots of a system's state and compare and visualize the differences.
