Intel has announced availability of Intel Data Center Manager, a SDK that provides power and thermal monitoring and management tools for servers, racks and groups of servers in data centers. The tool offers custom flexibility and real-time control to empower IT administrators to increase rack density, appropriately manage power and cooling infrastructure, and ultimately conserve energy and reduce costs. Designed for servers based on the recently released Intel Xeon Processor 5500 series, Data Center Manager utilizes Intel Intelligent Power Node Manager to optimize performance for power efficiency.
Specific features include:
- Built-in policy=based intelligent heuristics engine that can maintain group power capping while dynamically adapting to changing server loads and minimizing performance impact of workloads
- Uses Intel Intelligent Power Node Manager for node power and thermal management
- Designed as an SDK to integrate into existing management software products by means of a web service application programming interface (WSDL API).
