Micro Focus has announced its intention to acquire Borland Software and the Application Testing/Automated Software Quality business of Compuware Corporation. According to Micro Focus, Borland and Compuware's tools are highly complementary technologies to Micro Focus' existing suite of application management and modernization solutions, and these businesses will give Micro Focus a leading position in a market estimated to be worth $2 billion a year.
Compuware's Testing and ASQ Business automates quality processes within the software development function to control, measure and manage the delivery of results and to ensure process consistency and continuous improvement through sophisticated workflow capabilities. These products are highly complementary to Micro Focus' core solutions as they address a logically adjacent portion of the software development and deployment value chain.
Borland is a leading independent player in the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) market with a range of software solutions to enhance the management of application delivery. These solutions include Application Testing / Automated Software Quality (ASQ), Requirements Management, Software Change Management (and Source Code Management), Project Portfolio Management and Model Driven Development.
