uTest has announced upgrades to its usability testing services. The firm provides in-the-wild testing solutions that span the entire software development lifecycle — including functional, security, load, localization, and usability testing.
The company has created a community of more than 100,000 professional testers from 200 countries and territories to put web, mobile, and desktop applications through their paces by testing on real devices under real-world conditions.
The latest upgrades to uTest came after the company pointed out that there was a time when app success meant that your app worked as well in the hands of your users as it did in your test lab. But — and it's a big but in 2013/4 — today's users do not expect your app or website to simply work, they also want more.
"It's not enough anymore to know that your apps don't crash or have peculiar bugs. Today, users expect your apps to be elegant and easy to use. Memorable or intuitive apps and websites that connect with and understand the user have proven to be far more successful in the market than those that don't," said uTest blogger Richard Weiss.
So now, the firm's Remote Unmoderated usability testing services have been upgraded with a "streamlined platform" so that whether you're a customer or a tester, it is now easier than ever to interact with the firm's "usability studies" and access surveys that are now accessible and reviewable directly from the uTest platform.
Expanded reporting functions also feature; in addition to the usability report delivered by one of the firm's experts, customers can now interact with and export raw study results straight from the uTest platform.
With the Narrated Experience Captures feature, you'll be able to see and hear users using your app in their own voices. You can now request that participants upload live screen captures with associated audio and/or video recordings to walk you through their experience.
