Massachusetts-based Rocket Software has released a trio of new change management products designed to automate the process of importing and deploying build results at any stage of the lifecycle process.
The new portfolio is comprised of Rocket Aldon Lifecycle Manager (Enterprise Edition) 6.2 for IBM i platform, Rocket Aldon Web Portal 1.2, and finally, the Rocket Aldon Report Manager 1.6 product.
This release provides additional support for developers using Subversion (SVN) for version control. The "Lifecycle Manager" (LMe) tool can now automatically synchronize its promotion and deployment repository with Subversion anytime developers commit a change to their Subversion repository. LMe 6.2 also provides additional native Microsoft Windows support, allowing users to perform Lifecycle Manager functions directly from Explorer.
The new IBM i version of the Aldon Web Portal for LMe lets users track all software deployments from any browser or web-enabled mobile device. Web Portal can be installed on an IBM i server, and offers new deployment and installation reports.

ALM on BYOD
Rocket product management managing director Dan Magid said that, "In this age of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), customers demand access to information from their smartphones and tablets and they want to have the ability to take action from anywhere at any time. Our newest release gives them this capability to do so with a tap of a finger."
Aldon Report Manager 1.6 adds two new permission reports for Rocket Aldon Lifecycle Manager (IBM i Edition). The "Permissions by Release" report details actions a user can perform for a release, along with the source from which authorities are derived. "Permissions by User" provides details for the authority records that exist for a user and actions that may be performed.
