FBK junior researcher Stefano Tonetta is one of the 12 researchers worldwide who have been awarded prizes offered by Microsoft Research for innovative projects in the field of software engineering.
Tonetta, a researcher with the Embedded Systems Research Unit of the Information Technology Centre of Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in Trento, Italy, passed the international selection and will receive a prize grant of $25,000 directly from Microsoft to be used within a year for continuing his research work.
Tonetta convinced the jury panel with his upscale project for the design of an open source tool capable of finding any defects in the requisites of an information system before it is developed, thus allowing for considerable savings both in time and money. This tool, which is designed to be easy for users who are not embedded systems experts, will be employed for new applications in the field of research.
