Jolt Award: Infragistics NetAdvantage Ultimate 2012 Volume 2
Ever since the early days of Visual Basic 3.0, Infragistics has built its business on the gamut of component models of Windows COM, ActiveX, and .NET controls. Infragistics NetAdvantage Ultimate 2012 Volume 2 represents the culmination of the company's compendium of Windows components, spanning the range from Windows forms and Web components to XAML and mobile controls. In addition to Windows Phone support, NetAdvantage Ultimate also includes components for Android and iOS (called NUCLiOS) that feature the same ease of use and implementation that the rest of the Infragistics line is known for.
Also included in the Ultimate edition is Indigo Studio, Infragistics' new user experience design tool. This slick rapid-prototyping tool can be used to assemble design storyboards that can help developers visualize the end user experience, as well as see how the user interface will flow from one screen to the next. Remarkably, Infragistics is also giving away both the Mac and Windows versions of Indigo Studio for free. NetAdvantage Ultimate 2012 Volume 2 also delivers enhancements throughout its included product line, from its HTML5/jQuery-optimized IgniteUI controls to new Windows Silverlight and WPF components.
For the breadth of its offering, the ease of use, and the additional bundled tools, NetAdvantage Ultimate 2012 Volume 2 receives Dr. Dobb's 2013 Jolt Award for Excellence in Libraries.
