This release has new support for the Git in addition to its already-existing support for the Mercurial distributed version-control system (DVCS).
This new freedom of choice means that programmers can use the DVCS tool that they prefer and work on projects with any other software developer, regardless of their DVCS tool preference.
"We know that having to convince a whole development team to use a single tool can be a tough sell, but with Kiln Harmony, developers can use whichever version-control system they want," said Kevin Gessner, Kiln team lead. "They can use Mercurial and Git and still work together. The real goal was to allow development teams to use both systems interchangeably at the individual level and take out that big decision."
Kiln Harmony now has a streamlined project management interface, plus repository management and project setting pages are reduced to a single page for all configuration options. The firm promises "instant lightning-fast results" from its search interface. Results are immediately returned when typing, giving instant access to all changesets, files, and code.
"Kiln Harmony Web Hooks can now help release managers that host web applications in the cloud. Using Kiln Harmony, release managers can easily deploy source code directly to Azure or AppHarbor, saving time and the bother of a manual deployment. Code reviewers often have to reject code that isn't quite ready for primetime. With the new 'Needs Work' status, a reviewer can let a code author know that they're on the right track, even if it's not quite ready,” says the company.
