Hosting and cloud services enablement company Parallels has used the WorldHostingDays conference in Germany this week to unveil its Parallels Plesk Panel 10.2 product. As the first control panel to support IPv6 addresses and Server Name Indication (SNI) preserving IPv4 addresses, the new version gives developers working with cloud services technologies a route to dealing with the imminent shortage of IPv4 addresses.

The announcement is part of the Parallels Plesk Panel 10.2 update, currently in beta and available in April, which the company says will provide support for IPv6 on either Linux or Windows servers. Parallels Plesk Panel 10.2 can run each new subscription on IPv4, IPv6, or as a dual stack for both IPv4+IPv6 simultaneously.

Attempting to attune its services more closely to the needs of web developers, Parallels says that Share This, Twitter, and Facebook can now be added to websites through Parallels Sitebuilder in this latest update to Parallels Plesk Panel. A new embedded video module has also been added -- plus, the new Sitebuilder tool allows end users to build website content and, if happy with the design, purchase the website immediately.

Parallels' justification for these developments is hinged around the proposition that most web-aware SMBs are looking to extend their web presence by using social networking. It is therefore vital, says the company, for service providers to introduce easy-to-use publishing tools like Parallels Sitebuilder to help SMBs integrate their website with their social networking activities.
