Cloud-focused Application Performance Management (APM) vendor AppDynamics has released its eponymously named Lite for .NET "production-ready" performance monitoring tool for .NET developers.

After culturing a Java developer community of 70,000 users, the firm has now turned to the .NET platform with what is promised to be the same functionality in terms of application business transaction monitoring. The tool's trending and alerting functions work to provide code-level diagnostics on application issues such as slow SQL, stalls, errors, and slow response times.
Founder and CEO of AppDynamics Jyoti Bansal takes the competition head on and says that programmers need "more than simple system monitoring tools like Perfmon" — AppDynamics Lite is, "a free production monitoring tool solution that provides insight deep into the application layer," he added.
AppDynamics Lite is installed directly on an instance of Microsoft IIS Web Server to drill down into slow requests and gain a high-level overview of how an application performs over time.
