InduSoft has launched its Visualization App for Windows 8 and Windows RT. This is described as the first SCADA/HMI app designed specifically for Windows 8 and it offers mobile access to the InduSoft Web Studio application on Windows 8 devices.
This application allows programmers to develop "attractive" interfaces with customizable widgets that display alarms and trend history. Users will then be provided with alarms, alarm history, process values, trends, and historical data in order to be able to make decisions based upon the applications that they are using.
NOTE: OPUS Dayton-Knight explains the acronym SCADA as Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition. In reality, the primary purpose of SCADA is to monitor, control, and alarm plant or regional operating systems from a central location. While override control is possible, it is infrequently utilized; however, control set points are quite regularly changed by SCADA.
InduSoft Web Studio has already been presented as a both a web and thin client offering. The launch of the Visualisation Manager app for Windows 8 provides a toolset on which to build their next generation operator and management information systems.
InduSoft justifies its position in the market with a product like this on the basis of a track record developing software products for applications in industrial automation, instrumentation, and embedded systems for all Microsoft-supported operating systems.
