Scarcely two full months since developers received final shipping of Visual Studio 2013, Microsoft has this week informally blogged details of the final version of Visual Studio 2013 Update 1.
This first update addresses a number of fixes and enhancements, but a more significant feature update for Visual Studio 2013 (jauntily known at this stage as "Update 2") is also reportedly scheduled to be on the way this spring 2014.
Microsoft Developer Division VP Soma Somasegar provides a link to the Update 1 for Visual Studio 2013 and says that it is a "targeted update" to address the challenge of getting VS 2013 working better with versions of IE prior to IE 10.
"This update arrives as we finish up a great wave of Visual Studio 2013 launch events. Two million developers watched the Visual Studio launch videos online, and tens of thousands joined in person at events around the world. Video overviews of all areas of Visual Studio 2013, .NET 4.5.1, Team Foundation Server 2013, and Visual Studio Online are available now on the Visual Studio Channel on YouTube," said Somasegar.
Microsoft technical fellow Brian Harry had slightly more details and explained that the good news here (particularly for TFS users) is that Update 2 is very close behind Update 1.
"There will be a new version of TFS released for Update 2. We're just wrapping up feature work on Update 2 this week and will soon be releasing our first CTP. We're just beginning the process of polishing, bug fixing, etc. to release a solid update," he said.
