WaveMaker has announced a "cloud edition" of its development platform for web applications. The company claims that WaveMaker Cloud Edition is the first open source IDE for cloud computing. The platform is designed to anyone quickly build web applications that deploy to the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
"WaveMaker eliminates proprietary lock-in for developing cloud applications," said WaveMaker's Christopher Keene. "Now anyone can quickly and easily create and deploy web applications on-site or to the cloud." With WaveMaker Cloud Edition, developers use a visual, drag and drop studio to create full business applications in a browser without needing to install any software onto the desktop. Because WaveMaker Cloud is hosted by Amazon EC2, deploying applications to the cloud has never been easier." Keene added "WaveMaker Cloud Edition also provides an excellent way for any Java ISV to modernize and SaaS-enable their applications."
WaveMaker Cloud Edition features include:
- A Rich Ajax client based on Dojo
- Multi-tenant studio which can be embedded into an ISV's application, enabling easy self-service for end users
- Calable Java server architecture based on Spring and Hibernate
- Integration of existing Java code, web services, enterprise security, existing databases
Pricing will be announced at general availability, anticipated in the first half of 2009.
