Bristol Technology Ships eSleuth

Bristol Technology has introduced eSleuth, its transaction analysis software for the IBM MQSeries. eSleuth consists of a central Analyzer and eSensors installed on each host. The Analyzer is an intuitive Windows NT-based program that collects, correlates, and graphically presents e-business events. eSensors are lightweight, unobtrusive software components that collect information about each MQSeries API call and forward this information to the Analyzer. Other features include transaction visualization, data filtering, API-level monitoring, and advanced graphical views.

UPSPRING has introduced the CodeRover family of desktop software infrastructure analysis applications, designed to enhance productivity of individual developers. CodeRover applications come in three categories: productivity, quality, and change, with many individually purchasable applications.

At the heart of every CodeRover application is a comprehensive personal database built by automatically scanning the source code and capturing details describing all entities in a developer’s project, including macros and difficult implicit compiler-generated programming constructs, plus their inter-relationships.

US InterTech Announces ASP-db

US InterTech has released ASP-db, a web database tool that enables developers to publish live database and spreadsheet data onto the Internet or an intranet for users to view and edit in real time. Features of ASP-db include record editing of joined tables; advanced Java charting; the ability to email tables, forms, charts, etc.; and support for shopping cart-type applications. ASP-dbPro provides the additional capabilities of data entry, editing and deletion, multiple record edits, and support for SQL stored procedures with user definable parameters.

Mabry Software Releases TraceRt/X

Mabry has released TraceRt/X, a traceroute component that displays the route needed for network packets to reach a destination host. Each new host found along the way is called a “Hop”. TraceRt/X operates using the Microsoft ICMP.DLL library and by using the RAW socket technique. The TraceRt/X component can be used in any 32-bit environment capable of supporting COM objects.

Zucotto Wireless Announces Jacknife Development Suite

Zucotto Wireless Inc. has released the Jacknife Development Suite, for developing wireless applications and devices based on J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition). The Jacknife Development Suite includes the WHITEboard Wireless Java SDK, the XPRESSOboard hardware development kit (HDK), and training, support, and development services.

The WHITEboard SDK features Zucotto’s embedded SLICE software support layer, which incorporates an enhanced implementation of the J2ME technology. The key elements of the WHITEboard SDK are a wireless device emulator, tools, and optional Bluetooth Communications Boards. Embedded Planet Announces Blue Planet 1.1

Embedded Planet has released Blue Planet 1.1, a software development platform for Windows CE 3.0. Blue Planet 1.1 consists of an embedded PC-104 form factor board featuring the Motorola PowerPC 823e processor, a 640 x 480 color liquid crystal display with touch screen panel, infrared keyboard and trackball, a Windows CE image with the desktop, Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket Inbox, Pocket Word, and standard CE Platform Builder demonstration applications. ComponentOne Releases True DBGrid Pro 7.0

ComponentOne LLC has announced True DBGrid Pro 7.0, an ActiveX grid control for Visual Studio developers. New in version 7.0 is an enhanced presentation of Master-Detail relationships. In addition to showing hierarchical relationships between records, each drop-down display is a fully editable grid that can be customized and manipulated. Other new features include expanded styles to customize row and column borders using appearance, size, color, and type properties; more print and print preview options; a Filter Bar data entry row that allows developers to implement custom end-user operations, such as incremental search and recordset filtering; and native integration with True DataControl that adds data access and manipulation features.

Software Research Announces eValid

Software Research has introduced eValid, a browser-based website-testing tool. Embedded in the browser, eValid renders a page exactly as the user sees it, including graphics, attachments, applets, and content. It captures the user’s behavior online, producing scripts that can be played back. Automated test wizards mechanize common scripting chores, such as visiting every link on page or typing a pre-set text into every field on a form.

eValid costs $950 for a standard license, which allows a single browser session. A load license that allows an unlimited number of browser sessions costs $5,000. IDAutomation.com Offers JavaBeans, Applets, and Servlets

IDAutomation.com has begun offering JavaBeans, Applets, and Servlets to allow for integration of barcode technology into Java applications and web pages. By integrating barcode technology directly into the application, it is no longer necessary to export the data to a proprietary label program to print barcodes. The Java barcode products may be used on any operating system with a Java virtual machine.

The Java barcode products are compatible with JDK 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. Fourteen symbologies are supported including PDF417, Code 39, Code 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC, EAN, Codabar, and POSTNET. Pramati Technologies Announces Studio 2.0

Pramati Technologies has released Pramati Studio 2.0, the latest version of its server-side IDE. Studio 2.0 supports the complete J2E development cycle of Build, Assemble, Deploy, and Debug applications. Version 2.0 includes wizards, tools, standards-compliant packaging, full-featured embedded test server, and a JSP-EJB debugger.

Developers can select which core tools to include at start-up based on specific working requirements. Additional tools can be deployed during a development session. Rational Software Unveils Rational Suite v2001

Rational Software has released Rational Suite v2001, which includes four new products and enhancements to the 12 existing products in the Rational Suite family. New in version 2001, ClearCase LT is a software configuration management product designed for small development teams. QualityArchitect automates J2EE and COM component testing from UML visual models. TestManager unifies all testing-related tools, artifacts, scripts, and data. The Unified Process with Content for the Microsoft Web Solution Platform provides software process guidelines, templates, and examples for customers building software on the Microsoft Web Solution platform.

Rational Suite v2001 comes in a number of editions. AnalystStudio costs $3,995 for a single-user license. ContentStudio costs $4,795, TestStudio and DevelopmentStudio $5,995 each. Intel Announces C++ Compiler for Windows v5.0 and Fortran Compiler for Windows

Intel has announced two new compilers for Windows. The C++ Compiler for Windows v5.0 and the Fortran Compiler for Windows take advantage of the Pentium 4 processor with its new NetBurst micro-architecture and includes a prerelease version for the upcoming 64-bit Itanium processor. These compilers can also be used on systems based on Intel 32-bit Pentium processors to create 64-bit executables.

Intel has enhanced each compiler to support features such as autovectorization and OpenMP. Intel has also enhanced optimization features introduced in earlier compiler releases, including interprocedural optimization, vectorization, and profile-guided optimizations.

Griffin Technologies Presents WIBU-LITE

Griffin Technologies has released WIBU-LITE, copy protection for high-volume software. WIBU-LITE offers the same encryption for copy protection as WIBU-KEY, but in a less expensive package with fewer extra features. WIBU-LITE can be purchased for either parallel port or USB connection.

WIBU-LITE can protect a single application and includes a limit counter, expiration date, or added data. It allows secure remote programming for in-the-field upgrades. In addition, WIBU-LITE allows variation of encryption sequence with a 32-bit selection code. Finally, WIBU-LITE has an ISO9001 rating.

SerpikSoft Releases EditPro v1.0

SerpikSoft has released EditPro v1.0, a text editor for Windows. Its multi-document interface with a tab bar allows for working with several documents simultaneously. EditPro v1.0 offers syntax highlighting for C/C++, Pascal, HTML, Perl, CSS, and others. Highlight schemes can be edited with the syntax editor. Highlighted text can also be printed and saved as HTML or RTF documents.

Code templates and cliptext libraries help in editing source code. Support for projects allows the developer to organize sets of files. EditPro v1.0 is capable of searching within files on a disk or in a project. User-defined tools with special output capturing capability help to integrate the program with compilers and tools.

Perforce Software Announces Perforce 2000.1

Perforce Software, Inc. has announced Perforce 2000.1, its software configuration management system. Perforce 2000.1 preserves modification times when checking out a file. It allows wildcards when searching for jobs. The Perforce Windows client, P4Win, offers a help file with find commands that allow files to be located in the file repository based on pattern or location. Autoresolve options offer full support when merging conflicting lines of code among development teams.

DataCast Systems Presents VBeXpress 2.1

DataCast Systems has released VBeXpress 2.1, a template-driven code generator for VB/ASP developers, designed to help develop n-tier Windows or web applications based on the Microsoft DNA model. VBeXpress 2.1 supports databases such as SQL-Server, MS-Access, Oracle, DB/2, and Sybase. XlineSoft Debuts DB-HTML Express 1.4

XlineSoft has released DB-HTML Express 1.4 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000, a template-based tool that can convert database files to static HTML, without the use of an additional editor. It supports standard databases, such as SQL or Oracle, as well as any ODBC database.

DB-HTML Express 1.4 furnishes a tabbed interface, from which the user can generate HTML documents following a few steps. All editing work, including HTML is visual, so the program can even write the script. DB-HTML Express 1.4 includes advanced features, such as CGI scripting and command line support.

Arion Software has released UML2COM, an add-in integration tool for Rational Rose. UML2COM offers the advantages of C++ and COM middleware when generating code, without the disadvantages. UML2COM works with smart pointers instead of raw pointers, eliminating memory leaks and invalid pointer messages.

Source Dynamics Releases Source Insight v3.0

Source Dynamics has released Source Insight v3.0, a project-oriented program editor and program browser designed for large programming projects involving multiple language. Version 3 supports a number of languages, for example, C/C++, the new C# from Microsoft’s .NET Framework, Java, JavaScript, JScript, ASP, and JSP.

Source Insight v3.0 features include a Dynamic Relationship Window that graphs relationships between context sensitive symbols and can view class hierarchies, call trees, reference trees, and others. Syntax Formatting offers advanced display capabilities, including full, rich text formatting with user defined styles and formatting styles automatically based on lexical and symbolic information about the project.

CardLogix Announces Winplex

CardLogix has released a new version of Winplex, a 32-bit API for the creation and management of a smart card system. Winplex integrates multiple elements, such as pin pad readers, motorized reader control and mag-stripe card reading, allowing smart card designers to incorporate multiple device types into their design.

In this version, Winplex has been extended to work within the guidelines of Microsoft’s PC/SC initiative for Windows Smart Cards, supporting greater interoperability within smart card system components. BSQUARE Corp. has released Set-top Box SDK v1.1, which integrates with Microsoft’s MSTV and National Semiconductor’s hardware reference platform. SolarWinds.Net has released Professional Edition Toolkit 2.1, Windows-based network management and discovery software for finding devices and configuration errors in networks. Professional Edition Toolkit 2.1 provides an assortment of 24 network discovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools for managing a TCP/IP environment. The IP Network Address Recovery tool, for example, monitors a subnet or range of subnets and determines which IP addresses are in use and how long they have been in use.
