Knowledge-Based versus Aptitude Tests
Knowledge tests are used with the purpose of measuring the individual's existing knowledge that has been gained by actual experience or previous learning.
Aptitude tests are used in the expectation that they measure the capacity or potential of the individual to acquire and usefully use particular knowledge and/or skills.
Neither knowledge-based nor aptitude tests should be confused with I.Q. tests that produce a derived score (with a mean of 100) that is a measure of general mental ability.
