Subversion project devotee WANdisco has updated its uberSVN open ALM platform for the Apache version-control system. Squeezing in one last update before the end of year, the company has coalesced new updates on its uberAPPS app store with new "social coding capabilities" for developers.

Now at version 11.12, uberSVN latest enhancements are designed to help programmers purchase and/or assemble software development lifecycle apps for Subversion. This release adds the ability to make installed apps visible or invisible, on a per-user basis. There is now support for anonymous reading so that, when enabled, the repository can be accessed/read without the need to authenticate.

WANdisco has also provided the option to switch to and from the latest version of Subversion — version 1.7.2 — with the SVNswitch tool. Plus, for good measure, there is a more helpful help screen when uberSVN is unable to connect to the uberAPPS store.

"WANdisco has also announced the codenaming strategy for uberSVN. Apple names its releases after big cats (Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion, etc.) and Google names its releases after desserts (Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc.) but since uberSVN is developed entirely in Sheffield, UK, WANdisco has decided to show its support for the local area by naming all of their uberSVN releases after local pubs. uberSVN 11.12 is codenamed 'Blake' after the Blake Hotel and pub, in Walkley, Sheffield, UK," said the company.
