Backup and recovery specialist Acronis has announced a new online storage facility targeted at the small- to medium-sized business market. Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Online is a secondary redundant data store for IT administrators that need to avoid the cost of a substantial upfront investment.
Aiming to deliver the benefits of high performance backup and recovery in the event of specific infrastructure failure, the company says that its new solution enables IT to recover quickly from a secure cloud computing environment in the wake of a full data center disaster or outage, without building a dedicated and redundant offsite storage facility.
According to Acronis, this data protection offering supports both mixed virtual and physical computing environments and also offers agent-less backup for virtual machines to reduce repetitive administration tasks.
With AES-256 data encryption and user authentication, in the event of a large server outage, Acronis will load a server’s backups onto an external hard drive and ship it to the customer as part of its Large Scale Recovery option.
