Perforce Software has released news of a newly available integration between its Software Configuration Management (SCM) system and Apache Ant, the popular Java-based build tool. The P4Ant integration is aligned to support Agile development and continuous integration in large distributed environments.
Perforce says that P4Ant supports all of its latest continuous build features so that software engineers can test changes made in distributed development and build environments before submitting them to the project. P4Ant also supports tasks that provide information on the latest changes made — and that link builds to Perforce's built-in defect-tracking system.
"Using P4Ant gives Java developers powerful Agile tools for managing their source code and building projects faster," said Dave Robertson, VP International at Perforce Software. "As development teams grow and projects become more complex, developers need systems that easily scale to support large globally distributed JEE projects."
Like Ant, Perforce SCM is cross-platform and extensible. The Perforce Ant Tasks Integration, P4Ant, is available now at no additional charge with Release 2010.1 of the Perforce Server.
