First time installation of a real-time Linux flavor can be quite a challenge epecially for those unfamiliar with Linux. Partitioning a hard disk with a pre-installed OS and the possible risk of data loss will even scare some away in the first place! Furthermore, the cryptic looking commands, instructions, and technical language required for the usage of a real-time Linux variant and its corresponding prototyping target can put off staff and students of the control lab.
This first version of the STRTL Live CD offers a quick-and-dirty, plug-and-play type solution to this problem.
This paper was originally presented at the Eighth Real-Time Linux Workshop held at the at the School for Information Science and Engineering, Lanzhou University, in Lanzhou, China.
