Application release automation company XebiaLabs has announced version 3.8 of Deployit with new automated resource discovery features, an on-demand "Anytime Rollback" feature, and a new public REST API.
Another player in the growing DevOps market, XebiaLabs CEO Coert Baart claims that the general flow of trends in the release automation space have brought the market to him.
Those DevOps trends are:
- Continuous delivery
- DevOps
- Virtualization
- Agile
- Compliance
- High availability
"Deployit offers complete visibility and flexibility so organizations can monitor, measure, and manage the application release process every step of the way," said Baart.
Deployit 3.8 tracks changes made to target systems at each step of the application deployment processes. Its makers say that this allows it to automatically prepare a compensating "undo" plan where and whenever a failure occurs. There is no scripting or manual configuration required and this, claims the firm, effectively cuts the configuration time and effort in half.
"In today's enterprise, being able to automatically and correctly deploy the many, fast-changing components required of a modern web-based multitier application is critical to the business," said Gartner VP Ronni J. Colville. "A solution that enables the Dev and Ops teams to collaborate and communicate more effectively is key to enabling DevOps and error-free application deployments."
Significant new features and capabilities of the new Deployit 3.8 include simplified setup: extended discovery of WebSphere resources and artifacts in existing environments; improved Windows support: to enable authentication using Windows domain users over WinRM using Kerberos; and additional automation APIs: to integrate Deployit in a user's environment using the new public REST API alongside CLI and other integration plugins.
