Winners of the 18th Jolt Product Excellence Awards & Recipients of the Jolt Productivity Awards

VMware Workstation (VMware)
Reviewed by Mike Riley
From its humble yet highly innovative beginnings less than a decade ago, VMware Workstation has created a sea change in the information technology industry. Developers, network engineers, system administrators and software testers all immediately benefited from VWware Workstation's ability to encapsulate and completely isolate a guest operating system within a host OS. And unlike previous attempts at this technical feat, VMware did virtualization faster, cheaper and better. As a consequence of the product's success, VMware has built its company into the leading virtualization technology provider. While several commercial and open source alternatives are available, few have achieved the success and industry accolades bestowed upon VMware. The Jolt judges proudly present yet another significant award to VMware's trophy case and welcome VMware Workstation into the Jolt Hall of Fame.
