ActiveState Releases Perl Dev Kit 8.0

February 24, 2009

The good folks at ActiveState let me know they have just released the 8.0 version of their excellent Perl Dev Kit.
Anyone who has scripted Perl or is working with Perl-based automation or system administration systems may be interested in checking out ActiveState's Perl Dev Kit designed to ease many of the burdens Perl coders typically deal with.  Two new important features in this latest release include a code policy system called PerlCritic that helps a team of developers conform to a defined coding standard, and an improvement in ActiveState's PerlApp application building and distribution system that allows developers to package their Perl-based applications in a cross-platform Perl code and module bundler that, as a single package, can be distributed and executed on nearly all the major operating systems today, including Windows, Linux, OSX and Solaris.

Special pricing is available through the end of March 2009 for new and upgrading users.  Check out the ActiveState website for more details.
